Bird Friendly London Seed Fund

STATUS: The Seed Fund is currently CLOSED to receiving new applications. If the seed fund reopens in the future, a notice will be posted here and applications may be submitted through this form.

What's this about? In Spring 2022, Bird Friendly London launched a new Seed Fund with the goal of providing resources to support various bird friendly projects throughout the City of London and surrounding First Nations. This program is generously funded by Nature Canada.

Please note that eligible projects should be located in a public or communal setting, such as a schoolyard, retirement home or community centre. Projects on individual private properties (e.g., residential homes) are generally not eligible for the Seed Fund, but may be considered on a case-by-case basis.

The Seed Fund is intended for people living in London or surrounding area, such as First Nations downstream; projects in other larger municipalities are not eligible.

Currently, three types of projects can be supported (while supplies last):
1) Install a new bird feeder – receive a squirrel-proof feeder, a bag of bird seed and a $40 gift card to purchase more supplies from Featherfields Bird and Garden Store;
2) Bird friendly window retrofit – receive supplies to retrofit windows to prevent bird collisions (Feather Friendly DIY tape OR Sharpie white paint markers);
3) Bird-friendly garden – receive a $100 gift card to purchase native plants from a local native plant sale by ReForest London/Thames Talbot Land Trust. Plants can be purchased online and picked up at the end of May.

You may request supports for multiple project types – please submit this form once for each individual project (e.g., new bird feeder and window retrofit). We will do our best to accommodate as many applications as we can. All successful projects will also receive a complimentary Bird Friendly London yard sign.

TO APPLY, please fill out this form with information to be reviewed by the London Bird Team. We will aim to contact applicants within a few weeks, and to arrange for successful applicants to receive supplies. This application form will remain open until available supplies have been depleted. If we are not able to support your application at this time, we will keep your contact information on file and will let you know if there are opportunities to re-apply in the future!
